We are keeping the tradition alive, even in these foul conditions. Using the virtual simulator Virtual Robotics Toolkit, we kick off a 5 days competition, Nerdvana Summer Challenges!

Between the 6th - 10th of July 2020, all the contestants had to complete several tasks. Everyone worked individually, in his own pace and at the end of the competition, the first 3 classified were richly rewarded.

The tasks consisted in a theoretical quiz about robotics programming, a line follower task and mission task, as shown in the video above.

The competition took place on the educational platform Nerdvana Education.

We are trying to answer as many questions as possible, before the competition

1I do not have Virtual Robotics Toolkit license. What should I do?

You may download a "Trial" license, with 15 days availability, on their website. You can find the link here.

If you need a longer period of time to test the application, you may request a longer trial period accessing this link.

2Are there any other apps I need in order to compete?

Yes. For programming, you can use any software that works with Virtual Robotics Toolkit, but the recommended one remains EV3-G (the original Lego Mindstorms) software.

Also, for designing your robot you will need either Lego Digital Designer, or Stud.io.

All the presented software is free.

3I am not sure what the tasks are. Where can I read more information about them?

Because this is an online competition, we are taking precautions to be sure it will be a fair one. Therefor, all the information regarding the tasks will become available on the first day of the competition, for all the participants.

For now, all you should know is that the tasks will consist in a theoretical quiz about robotics programming, a line follower task and mission task, as shown in the video above.

Rest assured, having only 5 days to compete, the difficulty of the tasks are carefully weighted by Nerdvana instructors.

4What prizes are given?

First 3 classified in the final standings will have free and lifetime access to a number of courses on Nerdvana Education learning platform.

Also, we wll give Steam Gifts of different values for the winners. More information will be provided on the first day of the competition.

5I see that there is a participation fee. Is it mandatory?

Yes. For international participation this is mandatory.

6How do I buy access?
